Question PC may freeze accompanied by a buzzing noise in certain games?
Hello everyone,
I’m experiencing freezing and a buzzing noise in my headphones after about five minutes while playing intense games such as Hitman 3, Days Gone, and Spider-Man Miles Morales. Other titles like CS2, Sekiro, and Forza 5 are functioning normally.
When the freeze occurs, the only solution is to perform a hard reboot. In Event Viewer, I see this error:
The system has rebooted without a clean shutdown.
This issue might stem from the system failing to respond, crashing, or losing power unexpectedly (Kernel-Power, Event ID 41).
My specifications are as follows:
- CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1240 v3
- GPU: AMD RX 580 2048SP Strix
- OS: Windows 10 Pro
- CPU cooler: Intel stock one
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2V (BIOS F2, 2014)
- RAM: Dual Stick 1-Samsung 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz, 2 x Samsung 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
- Storage: 128 GB LITEONIT LCS-128M6S, 128 GB SSD Micron C400-MTFDDAK128MAM, 3.5 GB HDD Hitachi HDS725050KLA360
- Chassis: Legend RGB gaming Case
- PSU: CIT Active 85 500W 80 Plus Bronze
- OS: Windows 10 Pro
- Monitor: HP E243i
Current BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. F2 UM, 17/12/2014
What I’ve tried:
- Stress tested CPU (Prime95) – stable
- Stress tested GPU (Unigine) – stable
- Combined stress test for 15 minutes – no crashes
- Temperatures are normal (GPU ~70°C, CPU not overheating)
- Ran MemTest (3 passes) – no errors
Still, the problem appears only in certain games.
Does this suggest a power supply issue, a GPU driver problem, or something else? Any guidance on further troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
