Question PC crashes immediately following each gaming session?
Hi my PC,
System details: ROG MAXIMUS X HERO motherboard, i7-8700k processor, GEFORCE RTX 2080 TI graphics card, G.SKILL TRIDENTZ RAM at 2133 MHz, EVGA 850 T2 power supply, storage setup includes a 500GB PCI 3.0 NVMe SSD without brand info, and a CRUCIAL 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD housed in an enclosure connected via USB Type C with COD MW3 installed. Operating system is Windows 10 Pro.
Yes, I play COD MW3 from external storage. Cod mw 2 on Steam only has one game installed on the drive. After a PC reboot, I try using different slots—only two sticks of memory last a little while but still cause a reboot. Nothing changed after one game; even after hours of playing the same game on Ultra with a different SSD. One day I played BF V all day on Ultra without issues. The game runs fine on a different SSD.
Sorry for the English—I’m not fluent. Thank you for reading, and hope your brain understands my poor language.
How are you cooling that processor? What sort of temps do you see? BIOS version for your motherboard? You might want to move your games on a drive that's hooked to the board's chipset/CPU itself, as opposed to the USB and see if the issue persists.
How old is your PSU?
for a few reasons my cheap is running hot during games, pch 112 f temperature is high. my case is working fine. thank you.
