Question overclocking 1660 Ti OC Strix
Hey guys.
What's the recommended safe overclock for memory on this card? Someone mentioned doing an OC to 500 MHz, then adding 1000, with an average of 650 MHz for stability. Should I start with memory OC? Should I choose AB or Asus GPU Tweak II?
I believe even a few frames of OC would make a big difference because in Rise of the Tomb Raider FPS it runs at a minimum of 40 fps. Also, if I do an OC and save settings permanently, is it safe to keep that profile without risking damage to the card?
Every card and silicone piece varies.
Download OCCT and perform the GPU test with error checking.
Increase memory to 100mhz and check if it works; if successful, raise it further to 100mhz and continue testing.
When artifacts appear, errors occur, or a crash happens, reduce speed to 50mhz and conduct a longer test.
Typically, running at stable voltages and temperatures allows overclocking for years without issues.
I reviewed some videos prior to overclocking my Zotac gaming1660 ti with AB. Everyone simply increased the memory clock to 1000 initially. I did that and the card failed after a few seconds. It turned out I needed to raise the core voltage by +50 as well. After making that adjustment, I could push the memory up to +1500 without issues, so keep that in mind when trying to overclock.
