Question No Longer Stable Following Update to 1909
I've been using an underclocked FX 9590 for years. (My wife bought the machine and it lacks proper cooling for optimal performance.) It worked well on Windows 10 1803, but after updating to 1909, the settings aren't stable anymore. AMD overdrive no longer preserves my configurations. I think I'll have to adjust them directly in the BIOS.
Old Settings (Windows 10 1803)
Core Multiplier: 20
Voltage: 1.325
Turbo: Off
Max Temp: ~65°C
These settings meet all my requirements.
New Settings (Windows 10 1909)
Core Multiplier: 23
Voltage: 1.3875
Turbo: Off
Frequencies: Occasionally freeze due to heat
I notice significant changes in actual values—sometimes it drops to 4.7 GHz, then jumps to 1.9 and back. This behavior wasn't seen with the previous settings (stable performance).
I accept underclocking to maintain cooling. I no longer play hardcore games. I prefer keeping the current hardware to avoid extra expenses.
