I think you should set some goals.
Isn’t it clear what you’re aiming for? The more detailed the resolution, the pricier the build will become.
Are you limited to specific types of games, or is there a broader range involved?
Updating also raises costs when higher expectations are expected.
Do you have any objections to certain components like AMD, Intel, or Nvidia?

Resolution: 1440p, mostly FPS shooters like BF3 & 4, but also other action adventure titles like GOT. Would be looking for high refresh rates, I would probably go between NVIDA / AMG
