Question My motherboard lacks a 24-pin input and I'm attempting an PSU upgrade.
I have a asus aspire tc 895 and i am trying ti upgrade the power supply to add in a new gpu (gtx 1070) only problem is that i noticed that my mother board does not have a 24 pin input is there anyway i can get around this problem? Im just getting into building computers and thought a great way to start was a gpu upgrade. Thanks
If you haven't already purchased the gtx 1070, this suggestion comes from a review:
A budget-friendly, slot-only video card might work, though options are limited. Some calculations using the Outervision PSU Calculator indicate it could fit a GeForce GTX 1650 in this setup, as long as the card is compact and doesn't require a separate power connector. (

).
I’m not aware of any straightforward alternatives to work around the nonstandard PSU.
Another possibility would be to sell the Asus Aspire TC 895 and assemble a new system.
I've already purchased the 1070 and have the PSU. Now I'm thinking about getting a motherboard and a new case so I can reuse the CPU and memory. Thanks for the info, really appreciated!
With this updated motherboard, you'll also have to perform a complete OS reinstall.
The brand and model of the power supply unit you purchased are not specified in the text.
