Question My keyboard isn't functioning on the PC, yet it operates on the PS5?
I have a
HyperX Alloy Origins Keyboard
which I bought in October 2023.
I was gaming just now and all of the sudden it starded inputting random things without me toching the keyboard at all so i unplugged it.
When i plugged it back in the lights for numlock. caps and gaming mode at the top right started flashing white on/off, the RGB didn't light up and nothing i type registers.
I tried resetting the keyboard by pressing and holding ESC and FN that didn't work, i tried updating the firmware but i got an error saying that no device is connected.
So i opened a support ticket at Hyperx and while i was packing up the keyboard i tried it on my PS5 and it worked just fine, so i plugged it back into the PC but the problem persists.
Then i tried another cable that belongs to my headset and the keyboard seemed to work on my PC for a few seconds and then the same thing happened random inputs and then the RGB died and the top right lights started flashing white.
Then i tried it on the PS5 again but now it happens there as well no matter what cable i use.
Any idea what's going on and is there a fix?
if it keeps functioning properly, consider adding some moisture absorption packets beneath and/or around the keyboard to prevent this from recurring.
Moisture likely isn't the reason for what seems like a sporadic issue. It's probably a loose and inconsistent connection between your computer's socket and the keyboard. This could stem from a faulty socket or dirty contacts, possibly within the connector or inside the keyboard. Trying another keyboard might reveal if the socket is the source of the problem. Alternatively, connecting it to a different port on the computer could resolve the matter. If the issue persists, replacing the keyboard under warranty is advisable.
OP had mentioned earlier that the keyboard was also not working when connected to their PS5.
I would definitely consider applying for a replacement if it were my own device.
It might function properly in the short term or over a longer period, but if the problem returns after the warranty ends, it would be difficult to resolve.
