Question My computer stops working during hardware acceleration tasks
Hi everyone, my gaming setup is running into some issues with hardware acceleration. The PC freezes when this feature hits a certain threshold (I’m not sure what that number is). It doesn’t shut down completely; instead, the display remains blank and the fans spin very fast. There’s no reset option—just need to repeatedly press the power button on the case.
This problem occurs in specific scenarios: during Discord streaming, playing Apex Legends, or editing videos with DaVinci Resolve.
During Discord streaming, my network connection fails with high latency, and the PC runs extremely slowly. I can only stop the stream to get it back to normal.
Playing Apex Legends has been a real challenge—it randomly stops working at random points. There are times when I can play for hours without issues.
With DaVinci Resolve, I’ve noticed the PC crashes when I apply certain effects like depth maps or auto captions, and exporting projects doesn’t trigger this problem in Premiere Pro.
As for the current situation, there’s no overheating, no bottlenecks, and the CPU seems to be functioning properly. I recently optimized my SSD and haven’t changed any BIOS, CPU, or GPU settings.
This issue has been happening for about six months. Previously, it was one shutdown per month or every two weeks. Now it’s happening multiple times a day.
I really appreciate any help you can provide and thank you ahead of time.
