Question My computer occasionally lacks power or shows no display/POST?
I recently assembled a new PC with these specifications:
Mobo: Gigabyte B550M DS3H (the model without argb/rgb, I don’t know the exact revision)
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: EVGA RTX 2080 Super
RAM: 4 x 8GB TeamGroup Elite 3200mhz
SSD: Gigabyte 500GB NVMe
SSD: Lexar 120GB SATA
HDD: 1TB Barracuda SATA
PSU: Antec NeoEco 650M Bronze
These components are all brand new except for the PSU, which I previously owned in my old system and recently discarded. My old PSU was an Antec NeoEco 650M Bronze, and I used it just before selling my previous setup that had an i5-9400 and a H310.
Upon re-seating the CMOS, the system powers on but does not display, and when it does, both the GPU and CPU fans reach maximum speed. After turning it off and restarting, no power is detected. Is this likely due to a PSU issue or a BIOS-related problem causing power loss?
PSU is probably the reason.
What's the age of this setup? Has it been used heavily for gaming before?
Can we detach the Barracuda 1 TB drive and the 120 GB SSD to check performance?
Our goal is to lower power needs and see if it affects system behavior.
Do you have another functional PSU available for testing?
Keep in mind, if it's modular, stick only with the cables that came with that unit.
