I own a gigabyte z590 aorus master motherboard for many years. Recently, something unusual has been happening. When I power on the computer, sometimes it doesn’t fully turn on—fans aren’t spinning—but instead, the RGB colors display. It booted into Windows 11. I used the display driver uninstaller to remove the AMD video drivers, intending to install only the driver without the adrenalin software for temperature monitoring. It appears I can’t run MSI Afterburner and Adrenalin together. I planned to install MSI Afterburner for CPU and GPU temperature monitoring on the Radeon 7900 XT, but that failed. During installation attempts, something went wrong. After a restart, I couldn’t return to Windows 11. It kept reporting an issue with my pin number; I tried resetting it, but it wouldn’t let me change it. After another restart, I attempted to reinstall Windows 11, but the system stated it didn’t meet the minimum requirements for installation—something unexpected given I had previously installed Windows 11 without issues. In BIOS, I noticed the version changed from f9 to f5d, and the option to install Windows 11 was disabled. I’m considering a full BIOS reset to troubleshoot further. This is the first time I’ve experienced something like this. Could anyone explain what’s happening?

It wouldn't be an issue with the operating system itself, though it appears the BIOS occasionally affects the motherboard's BIOS settings. Windows 10 has updated the BIOS on certain platforms without prior notice or permission, although this isn't universal. Your motherboard uses dual BIOS chips; it's possible one became corrupted and reverted to the other. You may want to update the BIOS to version F9, then reset the CMOS by disconnecting from power, removing the CMOS battery, holding the power button for 30 seconds, and replacing the battery after about half an hour.
