Question Microsoft Surface, worth it?? Buy/Sell Laptop? Opinions?
I’d appreciate your thoughts on two matters. First, I’m considering purchasing a Microsoft Surface as my daily laptop or tablet. Second, I need to decide whether to sell or retain my current equipment. In short, I graduated in December 2023 and received an Apple Mac Air 13-inch. I used it during my studies because of its lightweight design, but now I own a Windows desktop/laptop at home. After finishing school, I sold it—something I later regret. I managed to sell it for a decent HP 17.3-inch laptop for $600, but it’s not very portable anymore. I began working in July and found a new Dell 14-inch with Snapdragon for $200 (before it rose to $900). The key point is that since I work in IT, a colleague asked me to test her HP 13 laptop. I performed a basic diagnostics and discovered the M.2 drive was faulty. I estimated a replacement cost of $100 or more, but I’d charge her $150–$200 depending on the drive size. Normally I charge $125 for laptops and desktops plus parts. She declined the repair, so I offered her $250. I bought a 256GB M.2 drive and installed Windows 10, using my desktop license. In your view, how would you compare the Microsoft Surface Pro to these three laptops? Which one should I keep and which one is more suitable for selling?
