Question Micro Stutters in All Games Despite Stable System – Need Help!
I’m facing micro stutters in every game I play, which is really annoying. I’ve already tried fixing everything—updating drivers, reinstalling Windows, and even using EXPO with both enabled and disabled. I also experimented with CPU undervolting, but it didn’t make a difference. The system runs smoothly and passes stress tests, yet whenever I move in-game, even just one direction, I notice occasional visible stutters. Open-world sections are especially affected, similar to what’s seen in AC Valhalla. I’m seeking advice or solutions, as this issue has been ongoing for over a month. FPS limits didn’t help either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated; I’m getting quite frustrated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I’ve tried everything.
What BIOS version are you using for your motherboard?
I’ve even reinstalled Windows.
Recreating the bootable USB installer, installing the OS in offline mode? Later installing all drivers specific to your platform via an elevated command?
You didn’t mention the make and model of your monitor or the resolution you’re using (including refresh rate and GPU connection).
Did you turn off the iGPU in BIOS? Using DDU to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, Nvidia, AMD in Safe Mode), then installing the latest GPU driver via an elevated command—right-click installer > Run as Administrator?
I’m noticing micro stutters in all games.
Where did you obtain the game installers from? Besides AC: Valhalla, did you stress-test the system with other titles?
I've attempted every possible solution.
BIOS version: F6 (currently the most recent for the Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7).
I reset the BIOS to its default settings, tried both with and without EXPO, adjusted RAM frequency and voltage manually, and checked Memory Context Restore and Power Down Enable options.
I even reinstalled Windows completely.
Yes — I recreated a bootable USB using the official Media Creation Tool, installed Windows 11 in offline mode, and then directly downloaded all the latest AMD chipset, GPU, and LAN drivers from AMD’s and Gigabyte’s official sites. Each driver was installed through an elevated command prompt (Right-click > Run as administrator).
Monitor details:
- LG UltraGear 27GS75Q-B27'' IPS display, 2560x1440 resolution, 180Hz refresh rate
Connected via DisplayPort 1.4
- Second monitor: Dell (disconnected for testing)
2560x1440 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate
Connected via DisplayPort 1.4
Tested VRR on/off, AMD FreeSync on/off, various refresh rates and resolutions — no stutter detected.
Yes, the iGPU is turned off in BIOS.
I also ran DDU in Safe Mode to completely clear previous drivers (only using AMD hardware) and then installed the newest Adrenalin GPU driver using elevated mode.
I’m still seeing micro-stutters across all games.
Not only AC Valhalla — also tried:
Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, Spider-Man Remastered, Shadow of the Tomb Raider,
Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, God of War.
A little Assassin's Creed Shadows (no stutter in first two missions, open world not tested).
Symptoms remain consistent: overall smooth performance, but occasional stutters during movement, particularly in open-world sections.
Game sources: All titles were legally bought via Steam or Ubisoft Connect.
Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe SSD (Gen4, latest firmware), exceeding 7000 MB/s read/write speeds in benchmarks.
