Question Massive FPS drops, regardless of settings
Question Massive FPS drops, regardless of settings
Hello,
My FPS drops significantly when playing Hogwarts Legacy or Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, going from 80 to 2-10 and then returning to normal for a short time. I've tried adjusting the graphics settings multiple times, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, so I suspect my computer might not have enough hardware power.
Here are my specifications:
CPU - Intel® Core i7-10700KF @ 3.80GHz
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
RAM - 16 GB
Motherboard - ASUS PRIME B560M-K
Please let me know if I'm missing anything, as I'm not very familiar with hardware.
Thank you!
Thank you for your quick replies.
Core and CPU temperatures are staying below 75°C.
How can I verify the frequency?
Concerning cooling, the case and model details will be shared shortly.
EDIT:
Here is a picture of the Power Supply:

I'm using air cooling.
Is this an EVGA WHITE PSU? If so, it's likely a low-quality power supply. For the RTX 3060 12GB, you should consider upgrading to a more reliable PSU.
I'm actually waiting for other Forum members/mods to chime in and confirm that your current PSU is
indeed
the culprit here. It does appears to be a low-end, poor quality PSU, but let others also
confirm
this.
But in case, if you want to buy a new PSU, what is your budget ? And where do you live ? Can you also provide some links from some Retail shops near your location.
I think the cost should not go beyond 200€. I reside in Germany, north of Berlin, and typically purchase electronics from:

or

Also, Amazon works well for me.
Core Temp also displays frequency along with temperature during demanding tasks such as gaming or stress tests. It helps ensure the CPU speed remains stable. You can also utilize MSI Afterburner to view diagnostic information while playing. YouTube offers guides on setting it up.
