When playing Elden Ring, my game often freezes briefly when mobs attack and the screen becomes cluttered. This causes my GPU to pause for a moment, disconnecting the controller and resetting everything. It usually lasts just a couple of seconds while the connection is re-established. I've tried all the solutions suggested by perplexity.ai, but nothing helped. I also noticed my browser can freeze during internet use, possibly linked to this issue. There might be a conflict between my AMD and Nvidia components. My game settings are set to medium, and I'm using windowed borderless mode. I need guidance on adjusting my Nvidia settings as an administrator, even when I try to open it with admin privileges, but the system denies access. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

What USB devices are connected, including the external HDD through a USB case? If there is a case, does it have its own power supply? (Compare this to using the PC's power through one of the system USB ports.)

Other USB devices?

I noticed this discussion might relate to the XBox app on my PC. I uninstalled it and haven't tried it yet. What are your thoughts?

I have connected my controller to one port while using a 4-port splitter on the other. This setup includes my keyboard, mouse, and external HDD. It isn't powered independently. The external HDD has errors in the event viewer, it's 15 years old and can't be updated, but it functions properly for all games installed, including Elden Ring on an internal SDD. I will follow your instructions and observe the results. I'll also attempt to disable Easy Anti-Cheat to check its impact.

Check the PSU details (brand, model, wattage). Find a USB hub or splitter with its own power supply. Also, make sure you have backed up all crucial data at least twice to separate locations, ensuring they are recoverable and readable.

Sorry, I wasn't able to locate that information. I just completed a power report, but it's quite lengthy. Would you like me to share it here or is there another better option?

Desktop or laptop?
I was considering a desktop.
If you don’t have the PSU details from the manual, you’ll need to shut it down, unplug it, and open the case to check.
Do this only if you’re confident about handling it.
Otherwise, ask a family member or friend who knows how to help.

Laptop: what is the make and model? Which power report did you run?

Thank you for your assistance. You were correct. The USB port would briefly lose power during GPU overloads, then restart its power cycle and resume operation. Eventually, I resolved the problem by using a wall outlet instead of a powered USB hub, as you recommended. The issue is now fixed. Appreciate your help!
