Question Low FPS CSGO map: Ancient
Question Low FPS CSGO map: Ancient
Hi everyone,
In every map I experience around 350+ stable FPS, but on Ancient I drop to 140 at certain areas. I understand it's a more demanding game, though with my old GPU it was usually fine.
I've already done a clean boot, used DDU to install fresh drivers, and reinstalled CS:GO. Still nothing seems to work, and I'd appreciate any insights.
Specs: Ryzen 5 5600x, AMD Radeon rx6600, 32gb RAM
Best regards,
kaishh
The performance drop is most noticeable on the Ancient map probably because it demands more texture bandwidth. Lowering graphics settings should help fix the issue. Also, ensure the GPU is installed in the first/primary PCI-e x 16 slot, just in case it's not there. It might seem unusual, but this workaround can sometimes work. I shouldn't blame the developers for the hardware they're using. The game offers configuration options to balance graphics quality and performance, but Ancient stands out by using many models rather than blocks or displacements. HQ models contain numerous polygons requiring significant GPU processing and PCIe bandwidth. The Ancient map level also consumes more GPU time due to reflections and foliage—something you can't change. Which model was your old GPU? Also remember that CS:GO is mainly CPU-intensive, yet GPU needs still matter when adjusting video settings.
