3 days ago both my mouse and keyboard began shutting down unexpectedly during gaming sessions, only when playing or launching a game. Since these devices are relatively new, I suspect they aren’t the cause. Whenever this happens, I hear a USB disconnect/connect sound and both devices shut off for about 5 to 10 seconds before reconnecting. I’ve updated all drivers and double-checked that the USB ports and cables are intact. While researching, I tried disabling power-saving settings on the devices but didn’t see any improvement.

In the reliability log, I noticed this issue often coincides with a "hardware failure" and is labeled as "LiveKernelEvent" code 144. Could this be related? I’m also concerned it might be connected to my PSU, which is at least 3-4 years old and not rated for 80+ watts. The manufacturer, ARGUS, isn’t particularly well-known.

System details:
- Motherboard: MSI a320M pro-e
- GPU: GTX 1660 Ti
- CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB, 3200MHz
- Power Supply: 700W ARGUS
- Storage: 960GB SSD
- Operating System: Windows 10 Home Edition
- Keyboard: Razer Huntsman Elite
- Mouse: Fourze GM800

Hey there,
What bios are you running on the system? Is it the latest one? There is a USB bug in one of the earlier bios'.
Is there software being used for the keyboard and mouse? If so, uninstall and see if the issue persists.

It turns out my bios weren't updated, so I'll attempt to fix it and let you know what happens.

It seems the issue persists despite previous actions. Both my keyboard and mouse keep disconnecting unexpectedly, even after longer periods. Now the mouse turns off completely when it disconnects, while the keyboard stays lit but doesn’t respond. I also need to unplug and plug in the USB for them to function again. After uninstalling the software and updating the BIOS, the same problems continue.

Make sure to clear CMOS after you update bios. This is an important part of the update to complete.

You can easily verify the driver updates without changing anything. Regarding the performance plan, it depends on your needs—consider adjusting it only if necessary.

If there is a version that mentions Ryzen Balanced, you should use that. Visit the manufacturer's site and download the most recent files here: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/A320M-PRO-E/support. Please let us know once it's complete.

No, the connection remains unstable. There might be a hardware problem affecting the device.

After eliminating most hardware concerns in a software setup, the only remaining step is reinstalling the operating system. I understand how frustrating that can be. I’d likely choose a fresh installation over a repair. It’s also possible the motherboard or ports are the issue.
