A few days back I encountered an issue while playing R6. My screen went black and the fans increased their speed, yet the computer kept running and the game audio continued. I had to manually turn it off using the power button. After this happened twice, I began looking into the problem. I didn’t get any error codes, but in the PC Management I saw "Kernel-Power Event ID 41" (all event data was 0 or false). That prompted me to start troubleshooting.
I tried several things so far:
- Updated all drivers
- Disabled fast startup
- Performed a GPU stress test
- Ran a memtest
- Reinstalled Windows
- Purchased and installed a new power supply (old: Focus GX-550 new: Pure Power 12M 750w)
- Acquired new RAM (old: Gskill Aegis DDR4 16GB new: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB)
- Updated the BIOS (B450 Tomahawk max version: 7C02v3J)
None of these actions resolved the problem. I repeated the error around 15 times, and it only appeared when running a fairly demanding game or program. The games that triggered it were:
- God of War 2018 (the fastest max 2-minute run)
- R6
- Overwatch
It consistently showed the same black screen with fans spinning, but the PC remained active. I also tried letting it run in this state for about five minutes before deciding to shut it down.

Do you have a link for this RAM kit?
Has your memtest run with 1 pass?
Did you update the BIOS (B450 Tomahawk max Version: 7C02v3J)?
Have you cleared the CMOS after confirming the BIOS was flashed to the latest version?
Did you reinstall Windows?
Did you recreate your bootable USB installer for Windows 10 to check for corruption? Did you install the OS in offline mode? Did you manually install all drivers via an elevated command (e.g., Right click installer > Run as Administrator)?
Currently, use DDU to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then install the latest GPU driver from Nvidia's support site via an elevated command.
I’ve encountered this error around 15 times, and it seems to appear only when running a demanding game or program.
How are you keeping your processor cool? What temperatures do you observe during the black screen?

Memtest results confirmed the previous RAM passed all tests; I didn't test the new one.
BIOS update was skipped due to uncertainty about modifying the motherboard.
Windows reinstallation was necessary, using a fresh USB drive.
Temperatures were within normal ranges before the crash (CPU 60C, GPU 75C).
Checking this thread for a possible solution. Very similar problems to a T, but mine occurred on an AM4 and brand new AM5 setup. All the information I've found points to power delivery issues, yet a fresh PSU hasn't resolved it. I've contacted Gigabyte to ask if the GPU should be replaced with a RMAd
