Question games run smoothly at a desktop size with no issues.
Hello. I am posting for the first time and doing so because it appears no one else is experiencing these issues. I am not a native English speaker and apologize for any mistakes in my writing.
When I play any game, the game will close to the desktop unexpectedly. The game does not freeze or experience lag or frame rate drops; it simply closes to the desktop. The Windows error reporting tool does not display any information.
Additionally, I occasionally receive a blue screen with an unrelated error message each time (most frequently "kernel power" and "system service exception"), and Firefox tabs crash, requiring me to reload them.
My system specifications are as follows: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB, B450 Gaming Plus motherboard, 2x DDR4 8GB RAM (G-Skill), Corsair VS650 power supply, and a 1TB HDD. The latter component is older.
I have attempted the following: reinstalled drivers, installed older drivers, installed newest experimental drivers, reinstalling Windows (twice), completely wiped the HDD, swapped all components, including cables (effectively rebuilding my PC), switched between Wi-Fi and LAN connections, played with lowest settings, used minimal peripherals, contacted customer support for Steam, Ubisoft, and Origin, sent my PC to a repair company (which returned it with no identified errors).
Given this extensive list of troubleshooting steps, I feel completely at a loss. Is there some unusual environmental factor affecting only my PC? Please advise, as I am becoming increasingly desperate.
It’s improbable but given you've exhausted other options... Are you absolutely certain that the electricity from your outlet is consistent and sufficient? Begin by testing a different breaker/fuse/circuit, and consider contacting an electrician to assess your home’s electrical system. Furthermore (and I apologize if this seems blunt), do you legitimately possess the game’s software? Frequently, erratic behavior in games can stem from malware or faulty DRM-related code.
It occurs in any game, regardless of its age, genre, or origin. However, games in virtual reality consistently avoid crashes. This doesn't simplify the issue.
My VRAM occasionally reaches 100%, typically hovering between 60 and 70%. I exclusively use Windows Defender due to my limited internet activity, primarily YouTube viewing and Steam game downloads. I plan to disable "game mode" to see if that resolves the issue.
Experiment with increasing your VRAM clock speed. I’m implementing this approach in numerous games, particularly due to my limited 4GB capacity. Raising the speed can help if your VRAM frequently reaches 100% utilization, preventing system crashes when the operating system lacks sufficient memory.
Running the games improved performance and my PC temperature decreased, however, it still crashed to the desktop after a short period.
