Question "G-sync test mode >> uncertified G-sync display detected"
Question "G-sync test mode >> uncertified G-sync display detected"
hello everyone
this message
"g-sync test mode"
"uncertified g-sync display detected"
appears on my laptop screen with red text when I enable gsync.
acer predator helios 16
gsync functions but the red letters keep showing and it's really bothersome
anyone have a solution to fix this?
and how does it change if I turn off gsync?
in nvidia control panel, under 3d application settings I switch vSync from "3d application controlled" to "adaptive" — that seems to help, but I'm not sure what the difference is compared to gsync
thank you
Software problem reported by Acer, affecting other Helios 16 laptops as well. It's recommended to wait for the hotfix release, which they've been developing for three months now. A relevant discussion is available here: https://community.acer.com/en/discu...y-...same-issue
It looks like a GPU/monitor BIOS problem, and it's unclear if updating can fix it for Acer models. I noticed similar issues on other laptops with RTX 4000 chips, possibly related to NVIDIA.
Acer needs to secure the particular display's certification from Nvidia. After the certification is finished, Nvidia will add the display model to its database, which should eliminate the error displayed on the screen.
If your laptop is sample piece, then it would explain a lot. Sample laptops are made prior to the full release, to show the press what the upcoming lineup is supposed to look/perform like. There is 0 guarantee that sample piece has to work like full release.
If you got yours for free (usually sample pieces are for free), great, continue using it with the flaws it has. If you don't want the flaws, buy the full release version.
