Hello everyone,
Far Cry 3. Recently purchased and tried to play it, but..... Every time it crashes to desktop without any reason and error message. I have noticed, fps drop to about 17 when the game plays starting video and then crash to desktop. There is no error message or anything, however I did alt + tab once and I have seen something like runtime library error. Other Far Cry games are running flawlessly. Anyone had the same issues and managed to solve it?

Do you have a DX9 game going on? The FC3 is crashing to the desktop.

Played on dx11, then switched to dx9 and managed to play, though briefly. Later it crashed back to the desktop again. I'm trying different options now.

Updated: dx9 provided some improvement, so I checked for alternatives. The runtime library is a visual C++ tool; I verified my version was correct, but I was missing the Net Framework somehow. Installed it and the game is now running without crashes—at least temporarily. Hope this helps someone else.

Yep, was just going to say anytime you revert to DX9 on a newer sys MAKE SURE all your redist files are updated to their latest versions, including VS C++, AND Net Framework. My guess is it will be fine now.
