Question: Does PC crash only when the system is under light loads?
Hi, I wanted to share my first post here because this problem has been really frustrating. I need to understand exactly what's causing it since these crashes seem very specific. Over the past few months, whenever I'm using either desktop or Chrome, my monitor would turn black, but the audio stays working and the apps still seem to be running for a short time before they ask me to restart. These crashes are unpredictable—sometimes my PC works for weeks and then suddenly the issue comes back, causing it to crash twice in one day.
There are small differences in how these crashes happen. The most common one I remember is when the monitor just freezes completely, the apps stay open but I can't do anything except force restart or shut down the computer through the case buttons. Another type involved my monitor shutting off entirely while background apps and audio were still active. I thought I might have managed to close the programs, but the cursor stayed frozen, so I restarted the PC hard.
So far, I've tried reinstalling GPU drivers, installing the latest ones, and even updated the BIOS recently, but nothing has helped.

What is the model and make of your RTX 3070? Is your RAM a single matched kit?
ASUS KO RTX 3070 GAMING OC uses a single matched kit. I've had this PC for around three years, and only recently began noticing these problems about six months ago. I'm not sure if I should upgrade my power supply, but I'm still unsure.
That's also a symptom of too low idle voltage on some components like CPU, RAM or GPU caused either by BIOS settings or PSU.
I'm not sure, but I'd like to know if upgrading to a new PSU is beneficial and what options are available.
