Question: DELLL INSPIRON One 2320 cpu replacement
Question: DELLL INSPIRON One 2320 cpu replacement
I own a Dell Inspiron 2320 with an I5-2400 processor inside. I enjoy working on older computers. I’ve only seen one thread about upgrading it to an I7-2600 chip. It has an LGA 1155 motherboard, and I’m wondering if anyone knows more about this model or other compatible chips. I’ve heard the i7-4790K works well for LGA 1155, but I’m worried about overheating because of its compact design. I haven’t checked the mainboard myself and prefer to find options before making a decision. Thank you for any advice.
Any system running core 2xxx will not be compatible with anything other than 2xxx/3xxx CPUs. When it comes to OEM systems like that there's no guarantee that even 3xxx will be supported either unless it was sold with them.
You got the wrong socket when you looked it up. The 2nd gen used LGA 1155, as did the 3rd gen.
It might be possible to put in an i7, but if it's 3rd gen, you will most likely need a BIOS update....being that it's a Dell, there are no guarantees they even released a BIOS to support 3rd gen.
Apologies and thanks for pointing out the mistakes. It is indeed a 1155 socket. I was typing one-handed and missed my fingers. I adjusted the input to reflect the correct LGA 1155 socket. Thank you for confirming the I7-2600s will work, though I wanted to check other options as well. Sorry and thank you.
The only details I've managed to view are the second generation core components. Considering the device's specifications, the 2600S seems to be the top option available.
I was hoping for something quicker than 2600s but not as power-hungry as the 4790k. Please share any suggestions if anyone has tried it.
The Dell specs mention two full-size Mini-Card slots, though I haven't received it yet—it's coming soon from a family member. I was wondering what these slots would be best for. Thanks again for your help.
