Question CS2 Major Stuttering / Low FPS on RTX 5070 Ti + Ryzen 5 5600 @ 4K
Hello everyone, I’m facing significant challenges with severe stuttering and low frame rates around 1% in CS2. Even though my GPU is strong, the experience feels like a slow slideshow during intense moments like gunfights and when peeking. The main menu also shows a noticeable cap near 120 FPS.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far without success:
- BIOS: Updated to the latest version (10.43 Beta) with AGESA 1.2.0.F and fTPM fixes.
- BIOS Settings: XMP enabled for Profile 1, Global C-state Control turned off, and AMD CPU fTPM switched on.
- Windows Settings: Disabled.
- Core Isolation / Memory Integrity: Power plan set to High Performance.
- Game Settings: NVIDIA Reflex turned on with boost enabled, FPS max set to 0 in console.
Symptoms:
- Menu FPS remains around 121 FPS.
- In-game 1% lows drop to 70 FPS or less, causing gameplay interruptions.
- GPU is located in the top PCIe slot.
Could the Ryzen 5 5600 be limiting the RTX 5070 Ti’s performance severely even at 4K resolution? Or might it be a power supply or thermal issue? Any guidance on further troubleshooting would be very helpful!
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Which GPU were you using before the RTX 5070 Ti?
Is this related to power supply or cooling problems?
Please share the details about your PSU—make, model, and age. How are you keeping the processor cool? What temperatures are you observing for both CPU and GPU? Do you have a link to the RAM kit you're using?
At 4K resolution, does lowering it to 1440p or 1080p help with stuttering?
The thread has been moved from the CPUs section to the Systems section.
PSU:
Endorfy Supremo FM5 Gold 850W (80 Plus Gold).
Thermal & Performance Details:
I’m utilizing an Endorfy Fortis 5 Dual Fan. Temperatures remain stable, approximately 65°C during high load. The CPU supports PBO, reaching up to 4650 MHz.
GPU Performance:
RTX 5070 Ti is operating around 70°C. I’ve applied undervolting at 0.970V, achieving a peak frequency of 3109 MHz.
Memory Configuration (Mixed Kit):
I’m running a combination of four sticks (32GB total):
- Two Corsair Vengeance LPX (Native 2666MHz, OC’d to 3200MHz)
- Two Adata XPG (Native 3000MHz, OC’d to 3200MHz)
Recently added Corsair sticks were intended to add more RAM and resolve stuttering, but the problem continues with both 16GB and 32GB setups.
As noted, I experienced identical stuttering with my previous RX 7900 XT on this system (B450M Pro4 R2.0 + R5 5600). This suggests the issue may stem from the motherboard, CPU memory controller (IMC), or an underlying OS/driver conflict rather than the GPU.
I’ve updated the BIOS to version 10.43 [Beta], disabled VBS/Core Isolation in Windows 11, and am preparing a clean OS reinstall to eliminate any software-related faults.
I recognize the mixed configuration is not ideal. I’ve upgraded components incrementally and am considering moving to the AM5 platform. Nevertheless, given the current high cost of DDR5 memory, I’m attempting to maximize the lifespan of my existing AM4 build. This is why I’m using this eclectic mix of Corsair and Adata sticks—adding the extra 16GB was a temporary fix to test if more RAM would alleviate the CS2 stutters.
