Is a 36 Celsius variation between cores typical?
At 8% usage the CPU reaches 80 Celsius and at 100% it's between 98 to 100+ Celsius. Is there an issue with the cooler? If so, what steps can be taken since the CPU only draws 100W TDP and the model is 5.3ghz?

Some variations are acceptable, but mostly in the low single digits.
The update is far too high.
Have you refreshed the motherboard BIOS to the latest version?
Up-to-date BIOS is crucial for safeguarding your chip from high voltage exposure (which produces heat).

I believe the bios version is up to date since I have the B.D7 from 01/09/2024 on my motherboard. There are only three updates after that date, including a beta version available on the msi site. The most recent update from the msi site is 18-10-2024 version 7D98vBE
