Question: Comparing A-Tier PSU to New C-Tier with a $50 USD choice.
Running both the AMD Ryzen 3600 and 5700 XT builds has set me in a tough spot about powering the system. There are decent used PSUs around for about fifty dollars nearby, with the Corsair RM650 and EVGA G5 both available at that price point. On the other side, the Thermaltake BM2 and 600W BitFenix Formula models can also be found for roughly fifty dollars including tax. Which one should I pick? The power rating isn’t the main issue, but would it be safer to use a lower-quality PSU with a warranty than a higher-end one with an unclear background? All prices are in US dollars and shipping costs are included.
The A-listers perform well. I’d consider a B-list alternative, though not the Thermaltake with that GPU since it’s double-forward and uses ChengX caps on the secondary. I haven’t seen the Bitfenix Formula Bronze (besides the Gold), but it’s clearly a more affordable option and I’d skip it.
