Question: Coil whine or buzzing from the new Corsair PSU?
Question: Coil whine or buzzing from the new Corsair PSU?
I recently purchased a Corsair RM850e, but I notice coil whine or buzzing, particularly when idle and not playing games. It’s unclear if this is typical behavior or indicative of a faulty PSU. Since my previous model was a Seasonic with no such issues, it’s hard to say. Should I consider returning the PSU, wait to see if the problem persists, or go back to a Seasonic because many people claim it runs quieter?
Have you narrowed down the source of the noise to be from the PSU? What is the PSU powering up...? I meant what are the specs to your build now? Please list them like so:

CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
Chassis:

Do you have an audio clip with video to corroborate what you're hearing off of our build?
Remove it at once since the worst scenario is if it causes major damage and destroys everything on your PC. You mentioned it’s not the 850 you requested and it’s complaining, so it should be returned with the tag ... wrong item and not fit for purpose. It’s heavy, so determine who will cover the return cost.
I didn't mean it wasn't what I asked for. What I did order was correct. The issue is that it's making a buzzing sound or coil whine. That's why I asked if switching to Seasonic would help, because many people say it's quieter.

You could try rolling a sheet of A4 paper and holding one end near your ear, letting the other end help locate the noise origin. I'm still unsure if the sound comes from the PSU... it's more likely the cooler's fan. Still, use that paper cylinder to check where the noise is coming from.
Could a different PSU with higher wattage be responsible for the unusual noise? I wonder if this data might be useful. Also, when I press on both sides of my PC case, the vibration and buzzing become less noticeable.
I really can't figure it out from where the sound is. It vibrates on the whole case. If i manually check the vibration, i feel on PSU cooler, on SSD/HDD, on everything. I've disconnected the stock cooler so it won't move, the buzzing is still there, seems the cooler is fine. Can HDD/SSD make a buzzing sound? Because before it didn't. Maybe the new PSU changed that, and maybe somehow now the hdd/ssd malfunctions?
There are no moving parts in an SSD, so no. You can take the PSU out of the chassis and wrap it in a cardboard box to check if the noise comes from it while powering the whole build. During this time, I would suggest contacting your seller or Corsair via email to keep them informed.
