Hey there,
I just had a quick question.
Yesterday I put in a new motherboard (MSI z390 Carbon Gaming) and everything seems to be working much better. I’ve got an i5 8600K overclocked at 4.7ghz with 1.280v, and it runs perfectly across all games. Today I tried Call of Duty: Warzone, and it opened without issues. But once I close the game, the CPU clock drops from 47 to 43 and then to 41—when I close it again, it reverts back to its original speed. It doesn’t come back after shutdown. I’ve checked other games too; none of them seem affected.

I also noticed that when the frequency goes down, my desktop wallpaper changes slightly—more defined colors. After 20 years of using computers, this hasn’t happened before. At first I thought it might affect all games, but only Warzone is showing this problem. I’m not sure what’s causing it or why it only happens with one game.

Anyone else have a clue about this?
Thanks in advance!

This is a weird one. I would try two things; Do a BIOS update on your motherboard. Then run DDU Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode and do a clean and restart. Once your back up install the latest video drivers.
If it still does it then go to BIOS and set everything to restore to defaults then do your overclock over again. Hit me up after all this and let me know.

Since you're investing too much time on a game that runs at 12 frames per second, we all know dx12 isn't very optimized. Compared to bf5 and other titles, it looks quite poor. If the game runs perfectly, just ignore the performance issues, core temps, and temperature settings of the software. Just play it, and this new trendy game is built to fail, so you might need to upgrade your hardware. The code uses the same engine as in 2004, which is pretty outdated. Ugly textures, poor graphics, and if other games run smoothly, just be satisfied and skip this one! Apologies, I'm not very good with English!

I played last year's Call of Duty, and it seemed okay to me.

The BIOS on your motherboard manages everything. If you're unsure about modifying your BIOS, it's best to keep it unchanged. You may try setting the CPU to 4.7GHz, but only if temperatures and voltage stay within acceptable limits.

I'm experiencing the same problems too—it began in Warzone but now it's happening across other games as well. I've tried forcing the OC to 4.9, but it still drops. I've noticed this before. The issue keeps resetting to stock levels and temperatures are fine, though the voltage was reduced to 1.25.
