Using a 180Hz monitor means any frame rate higher than that is essentially wasted. It might slightly help with input latency for some, but it won’t make a big difference for regular players. Stick to V-Sync or limit your frame rate to around 175Hz (just below the monitor’s max). Otherwise, you’re forcing your CPU and GPU to work without much benefit. Upgrading your CPU would be pointless because you’re already hitting your monitor’s refresh limit in the games. Frames above 140-150 FPS are usually invisible, so boost your graphics settings to increase load on the GPU—just keep it at least 140 FPS for a smooth experience.
Also, R6 Siege is considered an AAA title, which refers to high-budget games from major studios like Ubisoft.
I think an AMD 5800X3D CPU would be a great improvement and could work better in your PC if you manage to get one at a reasonable price. Just a note, I found one on Amazon recently for $239.00 CA. Make sure to look into your choices and have a great upgrade!
What really motivates me with this bottleneck idea is that the laptop my friend uses—an Acer Predator Helios 16 with an Intel Core i7 14th Gen, 14700HX processor, 16 GB/1 TB SSD, Windows 11 Home, 8 GB graphics, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070—is capable of around 300+ fps in Rainbow Six Siege. I’ve also noticed some other laptops with an RTX 4060 achieving similar frame rates in the same game. My reasoning comes from two points: first, my GPU is clearly more powerful than those in my friends’ setups, and second, I’ve seen many YouTube videos showing GPUs paired with CPUs like the 9700X or 7800X3D that perform similarly. The only limitation here is my own CPU, which is a 5600X. Of course, don’t misunderstand—I really appreciate all the support you’ve given me since I’m new to PC builds and just started playing this game.
