Question Bios says my CPU runs at 3.7, but when I play games it drops to 3.3.
hi guys, I have an i5 3340s on a desktop pc with an ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 motherboard. The issue is that when I overclock the CPU from 3.3 to 3.7 in BIOS, it shows the speed as 3.7. But when Windows starts up normally and does nothing else, the clock settles at 3.7. However, in games or stress tests, the clock doesn't go above 3.3. Also, my CPU temperature is fine (max:60c). Thanks for helping me!
The 3340s is a CPU that isn't settable for extra speed boosts. You can only boost the base clock and use turbo modes, but all your cores will run at 3.3GHz even if you try to push it higher using just the multiplier settings.
but i see on youtube guys are doing cpu overclocks but they don't end in k or x
I know that's true. I explained why certain YouTubers can use things on different kinds of boards, but only you know if your board had been fixed before.
