Question Best SSD for Motherboard help please
Hi there
I've checked my PC and Google resources to find the best options for increasing my son's SSD storage. He has an Asrock b450m r4.0 board with a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. The SSD is always full, and after using the wiztree app there were many files, so I thought it was best to upgrade to a larger SSD. The information on ASRock's website seemed too advanced for me to understand.
I currently have a Crucial P3 Plus M2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 drive in my Amazon cart, but I read that NVMe might not be the best choice and that SATA drives could work instead. I'm also unsure if Gen4 would be compatible. Also, how easy is it to install these upgrades?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Check if this matches your motherboard: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M-HDV R4.0/index.asp#Specification
If yes, you'll need PCIe 3.0.
The noted Crucial support is restricted to Gen 3.0.
This setup is ideal for gaming?
It appears the main constraint is storage, with the current 256GB drive.
Upgrading to a 1 or 2TB NVMe or even SATA III would be beneficial.
That's correct
Yes he's a gamer and wishes to install rust launcher on the SSD since loading from HDD takes too long
970 Evo offers good value, though it's a bit expensive now. The 990 evo/plus provides better savings. This option stands out for its price compared to capacity.
