Question: ASRock B650E PG Riptide - no USB detected, no bootable device?
Hey All,
Just a long-time member, first time joining. Usually I rely on forum info but this one's different.
I'm dealing with a brand new build and having issues getting the BIOS to recognize USB drives or thumb drives for installing the OS. I've been working on it for five days now (my return window is getting smaller) and haven't made any progress.
Before trying anything, I updated the BIOS to the latest version. Reading through reviews, some users mentioned USB driver problems. I went back to the original drivers that came with the board (version 1.28), which seem to work best and are more stable according to peer feedback. Even after that, I still can't see any USB drives.
I'm really stuck here. I think the solution is right in front of me, but I just can't see it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm attempting this with onboard integrated graphics.
It's unusual that the USB isn't being detected. During setup I had to switch to another USB because the drive wasn't listed on the selection screen. The updated bootable media resolved the issue. Is the USB showing up in the BIOS when connected? If not, what should I do next? I was considering putting the SSD inside my laptop and installing Windows there, but I shouldn't activate it yet and just boot after installation. Then enable and install drivers as usual.
I can see my SSD and WiFi Ethernet controller as boot devices. I didn't even consider installing an OS on another system, thanks for the warning. This will be a last option. I've reached out to ASRock, hoping they can help. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
