I saved Windows 10 from their site but still need a valid activation code. I discovered a free key online, but could there be a risk of infection? It seems like a strange concern, but I’m really focused on keeping my system clean and safe. Your worry is understandable.

There is no complimentary key available; purchase the operating system key or refrain from installing Windows.

The site claiming the key was free might already have a virus on your system. Windows 10 usually costs around $120 USD for the complete, non-OEM edition.

No key required for Windows 10 installation; press the "I don't have a key" option during setup.

Hey, man If you can't afford a key just use the free version they give you until you can save up. That's what I'm doing right now. you're gonna lose some customization features but its legit windows with nothing sketchy to come with it lol

Absolutely, we're used to seeing that sketch from Windows, right?

Is the "free" key a downloadable file? Just install Windows 10 unactivated until you can pay for a license. It only complains and blocks access to the personalization options.

You can operate Windows without activation, but personalization options disappear. Getting "free keys" won’t help much, and it’s likely you’ve encountered malware.
