The paste you referred to works well. I also use the traditional coffee filters for cleaning my CPUs. They leave no traces and are very affordable.

Your upgrade is satisfactory and reaches its limits. Ensure your motherboard's BIOS is current. Also, confirm your CPU is new with warranty coverage. Avoid risking a damaged 14900KS from used stock. Coffee filters should be lint-free. 92% alcohol effectively cleans paste. Any paste will suffice; variations are negligible.

You might want to check if there are any recommendations for updating the motherboard BIOS. It wasn't something I considered before, but I think it's important to do.

Updating a bios can feel intimidating. It might seem like nothing is happening for 5-10 minutes.
Do not interrupt the process.
Previously, a failed bios update could damage your motherboard.
That’s no longer true.
Follow the steps in your motherboard manual.
It could be useful to watch a YouTube tutorial on updating an MSI motherboard.
For instance:

The recommended method is using a USB stick with the correct format.
Asus may attempt to install a monitoring tool (armoury crate) that might not be ideal. I recommend uninstalling it.
It will appear in the bios after the update.

Thank you, I confirmed the BIOS update was applied correctly.
Regarding your question, you should replace the old GPU with the new one without modifying the PCI connections.

Simply install your new card.
It might support PCIe 5, but your motherboard's PCI slot is 4.
Regardless, only a synthetic test could reveal the distinction.
