Question About Thermaltake Smart BX1 650W Compatibility with GTX 1650 and low-end CPU
I understand the Thermaltake Smart BX1 650W isn’t the best option, but I’m in a challenging environment where things work differently than in Europe or the US. Quality PSUs from brands like Corsair, Seasonic, and EVGA are either too expensive or unavailable. Local shops usually stock budget models such as goldkist or lovingcool, offering similar or better prices than the BX1. My setup uses an i5-3470, a GTX 1650 with DDR3 RAM, two SSDs, one HDD, a basic cooler, and I mainly code with occasional gaming. Power consumption should be low. Considering these constraints, is the BX1 a suitable and safe pick for this build? A high-wattage or costly PSU would be unnecessary for my budget PC. Or should I keep hoping for another restock in the market? Any tips on extending its lifespan in these conditions would be helpful.

It isn't.

It's Tier - E, which suggests it might end up in a landfill.
I reside in
a difficult country and the circumstances here are quite different from Europe/US:
Where are you located? What is your budget for a PSU and what kinds of sites do you have access to?
Or should I just wait months for another PSU to become available on the market?
If we had links to the sites you can use, that would be useful since it would help us identify the brands and components you can access.
I’m based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Trusted PSUs such as Corsair CX, Seasonic, or Antec are either twice my budget or just out of stock for months. I’m monitoring stores and even some PSU brands like coolermaster or other reputable ones are mostly limited to tiers "C" or "D".
My PSU budget is around NPR 10,000 (about $70–$75 USD). Prices beyond that seem too steep right now.
If you still think it’s a risk, I’ll keep searching. But if you have suggestions on how to save or where to find alternatives locally, I’d really appreciate it.

I have a low-power PC, so I’m not after high-performance PSUs that go beyond my usual usage. I mainly play games like RDR-2 or PES at medium settings and mostly use Visual Studio Code. A dependable unit that won’t fail or damage me in the long run would be ideal.
Consider whether you can afford a full new system when a faulty PSU ends your current setup. If not, upgrade with a dependable PSU and try to move it to a new build. This unit should help you stay afloat (if it has the white/grey label).
Check the price on hukut.com for the Corsair CX550 power supply in Nepal.
Be cautious—when planning an upgrade, we’ll need details about that component and recommend a suitable PSU.
Invest in PSUs and cases designed to last around four builds or cycles.
Excessive wattage can extend the life of your unit, as long as the power source remains stable.
I would like to emphasize that this advice is the most suitable option. I have utilized Thermaltake Smart Series units, even those of lower quality than the one mentioned, in systems with greater power requirements, and experienced no significant problems. There are instances where opting for a premium or more reliable power supply isn't feasible due to budget constraints or practical considerations. I also recognize that choosing such an option involves risk relative to your system's cost, so it's important to consider this factor when setting prices in your area to upgrade what is quite outdated.
