The net card on this old laptop is RTL810xE PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller. On my linux machine this is filling the logs with warnings.
Research so far says that this card is broken and needs replacing. However on the Dell website for the 3793 service manual among the instructions for the replacement of various devices, the net card is not listed.
Is this because the card is on board so that I would need to replace the motherboard?
Breaking into the case looks to be a bit of a struggle so I don't want to go through that if no good can come of it.

This component is integrated into the motherboard and requires soldering. To swap out the NIC chip, you'll need to desolder or re-solder it, or obtain a matching motherboard.

It would be an option if it was a USB port free, but this one is restricted to 100Mbps, so I would search for one with up to 1000Mbps.

There is a problem with the system log being flooded.
