Check your understanding—does 5800x3d dynamically change its performance according to your requirements? You mentioned seeing a base speed of 3.40GHz in Task Manager, while it lists 4.06GHz. That discrepancy might be due to different settings or drivers.

Yes, modern CPUs will boost their frequency during workloads if you have available headroom in thermal and power limits. Although the max advertised boost is generally only sustainable on one or two cores during good conditions.

Performance depends on cooling efficiency and your system preferences. It may run faster with more opportunity and increased demand.

Modern processors adapt their timing using factors such as workload, energy limits, and CPU temperature. Adjustments made through automatic settings, including overclocking and power management options, can influence this process.

Yes, it's fine to keep the base speed at 3.4. Overclocking isn't necessary.

Avoid pushing the X3D chip beyond its limits. Allow it to operate naturally.

5800x3D will automatically reach up to 4.55GHz depending on workload and thermal capacity. It's a CPU that stays fixed outside of DOCP/XMP settings for RAM management. Even 7000x3D operates similarly in most cases, though it can be fine-tuned with PBO adjustments. While some users have increased the base clock on 7000x3D, this isn't recommended and is even riskier for 5800x3D since its base clock can't sync as smoothly with the PCIe bus as Ryzen's does. Adjusting the base clock further could lead to instability with any PCIe device. At around 4GHz, the cores perform adequately. If you're using monitoring tools, verify whether you're achieving the full 4.55GHz boost under lighter conditions. Otherwise, neither the 5800x3D nor the 7000x3D are intended for overclocking.
