Question about SATA version compatibility
Question about SATA version compatibility
Hello, I'm considering purchasing used hard drives for personal storage and setting up a photo backup server. I intend to transfer my current PC’s data onto these drives and then reinstall Windows on my computer. I’m not overly concerned about drive failures since I’ll be moving a lot of files and nothing highly valuable is stored there. However, I’ve noticed concerns about potential Pin 3 problems with SATA drives, which is confusing. I’m having trouble grasping the SATA version history and how it relates to these drives and newer power supplies. Could you help me determine whether these drives will work without modification? Specifically, should I cover the pin 3 with tape or something similar to keep the PWDIS feature active? I’d like to avoid any extra steps later. If possible, please let me know if these drives are compatible out of the box.
I believe the adapter in the third image serves its purpose. It should function well if you choose to use it.
