Adjust the undervolting settings carefully, avoid excessive values, and use hydra to fine-tune the CO value. Subtract 5 from each of those values, then input them into the SHAPER curve for the three extreme frequency and temperature settings. This should stabilize your 9800x3d processor.

I understand it's a strong CPU, but switching from air to water cooling is still an issue even without PBO.

You can define a maximum temperature target in the BIOS to 85°C. The board will draw power back to maintain this level, which might resolve your freezing problem. If that helps, the cooler isn’t effectively cooling the chip. Additional freezing issues could stem from faulty RAM. Adjust the RAM speed to 5600 or 5200 instead of 6000. Remember, since the 3D stack sits above the processors, it behaves like an insulator on two cores, limiting CPU boost and reducing performance. Using liquid cooling is advised for better results.

AMD's CPU replacement arrived and was tested last night without PBO or any overclocking. Unfortunately, I'm still encountering the same issues. I also tried turning off EXPO to check for a DRAM problem, but the freezing persisted. I plan to test RAM stability further later.

I observed that when my system would freeze, the CPU temperature rarely reached 85-90°C, usually staying between 68-78°C. This might indicate that temperature isn't the main cause of instability.

Until I conduct more tests on DRAM stability or determine if the replacement CPU is faulty, it seems likely that either the motherboard is defective or it's time to purchase my first AIO.

I started assembling a new PC at the beginning of the year and have been facing this particular problem since February. It has become increasingly frustrating, prompting me to invest more resources in trying to resolve it.

Since the second public release of Monster Hunter Wilds, I've encountered a major issue where my system would freeze after prolonged gameplay. I had to restart it manually, but logs in Event Viewer were absent, and Reliability Monitor only reported "Windows didn't shut down properly" without further details. Initially, I suspected the PBO undervolt settings were the cause, but the problem persisted even after disabling overclocking. Eventually, I decided to wait for the game update, hoping it would resolve the matter.

After the release, I faced similar challenges, reexperiencing the same freeze multiple times. This repeated frustration led me to take a break that week, aiming to identify the root cause. First, I performed a CMOS reset and a fresh Windows installation, though it didn't solve the issue. I considered hardware defects and filed an RMA for my CPU, planning to visit a local repair shop for a new motherboard and RAM. During this time, I transferred my GPU and storage drives to the old PC to test for defects and keep it operational.

Once I received the replacement parts, I retested everything, only to encounter another system freeze while benchmarking Monster Hunter Wilds. Realizing my CPU might benefit from a water-cooled setup, I purchased an AIO cooler. However, after installing it, another freeze occurred after hours of testing. Now I'm contemplating a new power supply unit, as I can't determine what else might be causing the instability.

Before discussing WIlds' optimization issues, I'm aware that my system is already underperforming. I'm exhausted from this ordeal and long for a smooth gaming experience.
