Question about replacing the battery in Lenovo Carbon X1 5th Gen.
I required a replacement battery for my older Carbon X1, bought an aftermarket one from eBay. After a few weeks, the device began acting as if it was in hibernation mode or experiencing other power problems when the new battery was installed. When I connected the power supply, the on/off switch would flash three times. Removing the battery resolved the issue. I wasn't expecting miracles with the aftermarket battery, but I'm unsure about the best course of action now.
Potentially incompatible battery. Many modern laptops include logic boards integrated into their batteries. If the laptop fails to communicate with the board or receives incorrect data, various issues may arise. Consider reaching out to Lenovo to check if they provide an official replacement battery for your exact model.
It makes sense, the OEM replacement costs $100. I’m keeping it as an extra laptop, not really in need of it. Still, if I ever want to sell it, having a working battery would be helpful. Since they’re likely to come down to a few hundred dollars on eBay, I’d appreciate finding a cost-effective alternative.
