Hey guys. Got a Lenovo P520 and I was removing the optical drive as per the manual (pg 111, can be found
here
). When lifting the tab, a spring came out and I cannot tell where it goes. Here is a picture showing everything:

I haven't located any images demonstrating the bracket or its positioning. Could you examine the bracket closely for any signs of damage or marks indicating the spring's location?

Hello, I'm not sure if you found the answer to your issue, but it seems like you're facing some challenges. I explored my P520 to understand where this assembly is located, and it appears that the spring connects to the bracket and then to a hook at the bottom of the expansion cage:

Additionally, the spring is going to be quite difficult to access, and the optimal position is obstructed by the cage:

Unless you manage to manually place the spring in place, it's nearly impossible to reinstall. The P520 case can remove a few panels using a screwdriver, but I wasn't able to verify that completely. It's quite time-consuming for just the bracket holding expansion parts, and you risk losing a couple of fasteners during the process. If you try to reattach it without guidance, the best way to see it is from the front panel:

If the front panel comes loose with a few screws and plastic hangers at the bottom, you might consider using a thin shim to secure your optical drive. This would allow it to slide out easily. Wishing you the best, and please accept my apology for the photo quality—I had to break the glass lens over my phone camera, which now produces blurry images.
