Imagine purchasing two Crucial Ballistix chips—one at 3600MHz and another at 3200MHz. The question is whether the higher-frequency version can match the performance of its lower frequency counterpart in terms of output capability. I wanted to make sure my explanation was clear.

It will not be as likely to run at 3600. It might be able too but there is no gurantee

I'm working with affordable rev-E RAM that was designed for 2666MHz and came with a bare PCB. I've boosted it to 3933MHz. The clock speeds aren't ideal, but this proves that significant improvements are achievable. Keep in mind this is running on an older X370 board. My estimate is you could likely push it up to match the 3600MHz of your other system, even if you need to slightly relax the timing settings. What hardware are you planning to use with this memory? Since you're aiming for around 3600MHz, it seems like a Ryzen processor would be involved. Also, double-check that both the kit you have and the one you're considering support dual-rank modules—most modern 16GB sticks are single-rank.
