Sons has an EVGA 650 80+ Gold built from his original Ryzen 1700 Asus x370 Prime Pro, enhanced with a Ryzen 58003xd and RTX 4070. It has functioned well for 18 months but now experiences random blank screens accompanied by audio issues. Stress tests with Furmark at 1440 cause resets. CPU and memory stress tests have run smoothly for hours. Considering the PSU is over seven years old and the EVGA brand is no longer supported, it seems likely this component is nearing end of life and could be replaced with a 850w Gold full modular unit. What recommendations exist?

Sons has an EVGA 650 80+ Gold unit originally built with a Ryzen 1700 Asus x370 Prime Pro, later upgraded to a Ryzen 58003xd and RTX 4070. The 650 and 80+ gold ratings refer to its wattage and efficiency. What model is this? Considering the PSU is over seven years old and EVGA is no longer in business, could it be an outdated unit likely nearing end of life, possibly needing a replacement with an 850w Gold full modular unit? What are the recommended upgrades? A discontinued PSU might indicate poor build quality, but since the brand has ceased operations, it’s reasonable to assume the product is past its warranty period. Warranty duration seems short—likely around five years rather than ten. You haven’t provided details on the PSU’s power usage over time, so we can’t confirm its service life.

When setting up a new PSU, always use only the cables provided with it. Make sure all crucial information about your PC is saved in backups at least twice on separate devices. Check that these backups can be recovered and accessed properly.
