I am testing a fresh 65W pd charger to power my laptop via USB-C port on my laptop that supports pd charging using a USB to USB-C cable. The laptop powers on but keeps the charging indicator lit when I shut it down or turn off the power supply, and if I disconnect the USB PD charger while Windows is running, the system bar still shows charging even though the charger is removed. However, when I connect the laptop through a USB-C hub with pd support, the charger works properly and turns off like a regular brick adapter would. What could be wrong to fix or adjust?

The laptop model is [make], the model is [model], and the SKU is [SKU]. I'm checking for any pending BIOS updates. Regarding your operating system, if you're using Windows 10 or 11, please verify it's current. For the adapter issue, I can guide you through updating BIOS settings and troubleshooting the power connection. Also, feel free to share a link to any aftermarket parts if needed.
