I own multiple computers, including this desktop I purchased from Best Buy around three years ago. It was intended solely as a secondary machine.
I no longer wish to keep it in my home office since the hard drive is constantly producing processing noise when running CPU-heavy applications.
It isn't the sound of a failing hard drive, just one that's heavily processing.
I possess solid computer skills, such as adjusting services and learning various OS tools.
When I moved it to a location farther from my modem, I realized it was picking up neighboring Wi-Fi networks but not my own.
My cell phone in that spot receives my signal.
I contacted Xfinity about this issue, but they couldn't assist.
The specifications are Pent G2030 @2.90 ghz, 4 gigabits of RAM, 64-bit architecture.

I'm using an eBay dongle USB wireless 802.IIN device. I have two, and this one features a larger antenna. It clearly functions as it successfully picks up the neighboring Wi-Fi accounts.
switch to using bigger SATA SSDs that are affordable these days.
use a powerline adapter.
connect it nearby to your router and plug the end gateway close to the farthest device.
this setup provides full-speed Ethernet or WiFi from the starting point of your old "Pent G2030".
