This situation doesn't raise too many concerns. The PSU is quite affordable, so it likely lacks a high-quality fan. My main worries would be about the overall condition of the CX 430, which is another low-quality PSU and now at least ten years old, even if it might perform better than what was originally available.

Whatever she had before didn't even carry a brand name—just its highest capacity of 500W.
Luckily, I'm not aiming for a permanent fix. Maybe it'll work for a short time, maybe just a few weeks. I was worried it might damage her PC. I thought the unit was only 430 watts, but she plays pretty basic games like WoW and Sims. It has an i7-8700K, an RTX 2060, and 32 GB DDR4—nothing too demanding.
Since I shared this post, it seems quieter. The fan might have been struggling a bit after being stored for a while.
