Hello - I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 2 AMD (15”) 20X70059US in 2021. The laptop isn’t starting this morning. I tried a Windows Update yesterday and wasn’t sure if that helped. When I usually turn it on, I see the "Lenovo" Bootup/Bios screen. Now it takes about 45 seconds to wait before beeping and the screen goes blank. I downloaded the Lenovo Diagnostics tool which shows an error code 0282 for a memory module issue. The app suggests:
1. Reinstall or replace the memory module
2. Replace the system board (service only)
Anyone else faced this problem before? Any advice or troubleshooting steps you’d recommend? I’d prefer to test it myself before buying new parts or replacing the motherboard, since I’m not familiar with that process.

If your memory was the problem, you wouldn't have managed to reach the BIOS screen. Try disconnecting the laptop from the power source, then detach the internal battery from the device, remove the memory modules, and press and hold the power button for thirty seconds.

The beep code and blank screen clearly indicate a memory problem, though a poor connection could also be the cause. I’d shut everything off fully, then carefully remove and reinsert the RAM one by one. Gently cleaning the contacts can also make a difference. If this doesn’t fix the issue, try using different RAM modules or seek professional assistance.

I got distracted by work again and am now trying to resolve this laptop issue. It won’t boot at all. I removed the RAM stick from the right slot and reinserted it, but that didn’t work. I considered swapping it with the left slot, though it doesn’t fit properly. A closer look shows a component obstructing the path (see red box in picture). I’m unsure if this part is standard or if a loose piece is stuck. Any thoughts? Also, what’s the best way to gently clean the contacts? Thanks for your help.
