Question about FPS issues in GTA - whether it's the GPU or the game itself.
Occasionally, while playing GTA, the FPS sharply decreases to 5 for a short time, then restores smoothly, and the graphics card usage drops to 8%, seemingly unused, before returning to normal. Is this an issue with your graphics card or the game?
What are the specifications for all installed parts? Are there any components being overclocked (CPU, GPU, RAM)?
My build details are as follows:
• Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
• Memory: Corsair Vegeance RGB Pro 16GB 3200MHz (2x8)
• Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
• Storage: Sabrent Rocket 1TB NVMe M.2
• Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
• Power Supply: Seasonic Focus GX-550
Just my opinion, I completed 2500 hours in GTA5. Sometimes these unusual FPS drops occur because you're getting too many frames per second, which the game engine can't handle beyond around 150fps. This might cause big jumps in FPS. Limiting FPS or turning on VSync could help if this is your issue. The 1660 Ti usually doesn't reach such high FPS in this game, but if you're playing on low settings, it might struggle with speed. Good luck!
I mostly keep all graphics settings at High - Very High, with the exception of grass quality. Vsync is active.
Can I adjust the FPS limit, and is this possible within the game or must it be managed via the NVIDIA panel?
Is this an issue with the game itself?
