Received an 850 EVO to swap in for my 830. I don’t want to reinstall Windows, so I’m thinking about cloning the OS from the 830 to the new machine. Is there any noticeable slowdown I should expect? I’m using Windows 10 and worried it might run differently on the new SSD—especially if some older hardware is still in place. Any advice?

Performance shouldn't decline negatively. SSDs handle garbage collection when not in use. After copying, you can enable Windows to run the TRIM command on the SSD: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/861...s-8-a.html

It's a bit more involved due to the AHCI drivers that come with Windows during initial OS installation. If I were more driven, I'd run some performance tests... ;p

When AHCI was activated earlier, it wouldn't affect the outcome.
