I've been using Nobara for some time now, but discovered a major issue. Novara markets itself as a Linux OS with a user-friendly interface, but in Nobara 39 it integrates KDE Discover which you can't update from. It turns out updating system packages through Discover can break your system—though it will still function. Nobara relies on Yum Extender for its GUI store, which doesn’t support browsing. This is concerning given Nobara's claim of being point-and-click friendly. As a result, I’m considering Bazzite, which is based on Fedora and uses KDE Plasma Desktop. I’d like to verify whether it employs Discover or another package manager.

Review their guides, it seems they rely on a tailored script for software updates.

It employs Topgrade, a simple icon in the Start Menu. Clicking it gets you going. They seem to have turned off updates except for Flatpaks, which helps avoid confusion. I’m not entirely sure since I often check for updates. Arch has really messed with me. XD

Bazzite supports Discover for managing apps and updates. It primarily uses the "ujjust update" terminal script to handle operating system and application updates together.

I've been using Nobara on my desktop for a whole year now. Everything works perfectly, even switching from version 39 to 40 just by following the instructions: https://nobaraproject.org/docs/upgrade-t...a-version/. For installing certain apps, I rely on the Fedora documentation. Regarding Bazzite, the key point is it's an immutable distribution—remember that.

I moved from Nobara to Bazzite and it feels like Nobara again without the problems I faced. The update process was smooth, and I appreciate how supportive and helpful the Bazzite Discord community is when issues come up.

I chose to give it a shot since they offer a specific setup for ASUS laptops. It’s incredible how quickly and effectively this distro performed over the past few months. I also added it to my Legion go—no more problems as before. Lastly, I managed to configure virtualization with just one command and installed Windows 10 for all my requirements. I’m impressed that they use Discover, which is the standard from KDE, and they include a "Topgrade" update manager that also handles Discover updates.
