i'm not intending to upgrade it beyond this point, i just require a pc capable of handling files. i don't plan to use it for heavy gaming or anything like that. i only need a device that can operate an ftp server.

And you're looking to run this from your home system and LAN? Yeah...don't do that.
Have an Amazon account? Prime, maybe?
Do it there.
If no Prime, then create a site on GoDaddy or similar.
Avoid hosting an FTP server from your home LAN. That's a quick way to get compromised.
